Jim Ward, Republican candidate for Congress in Arizona’s 5th Congressional District, today announced that his campaign has outraised all candidates in the Republican primary for the fifth straight quarter. Ward raised $139,000. Even more impressively, to date, Ward has raised more in individual contributions than all of the other competitors combined.
“I am gratified by the widespread support this campaign has generated," said Ward. "It is a clear indication that I am the candidate to beat Harry Mitchell in the fall. We can not afford to lose to Mitchell yet again. Professional politicians who repeatedly run in an attempt to beat him have not been successful. We need a candidate who is not a professional politician, has made a payroll, created jobs and balanced budgets. I will beat Harry Mitchell."
The vast majority of Ward campaign funds have come from individual contributions of all sizes and from across every segment of the Arizona electorate.
“Clearly voters are responding to our campaign's themes of fiscal responsibility, limited government and national security," said Ward. "I pledge to fight for these principles and shake up the establishment in Washington and to fight for the constituents of CD5."
Since announcing his candidacy in June of 2009, Jim Ward has been endorsed by key Republican leaders including Congressman John Shadegg (AZ-3), former Governor Fife Symington, Scottsdale Mayor Jim Lane and Scottsdale City Counclman Bob LIttlefield, Tempe City Councilmember Onnie Shekerjian, Mesa City Councilmembers Dina Higgins and Dave Richins, and Tea Party leader Arch McGill among others.
